Business school guest speakers are generally drawn from a wide spectrum of business interests, from the local independent start-up to the multinational corporation.
Many schools have associate organizations, such as the Associates of the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba in Canada. Members of such associate organizations will often be invited to speak at the business school. Guest speakers may also be sought from a variety of different cultures, particularly in programs with an international focus.
Speakers are brought in to a business school for different occasions and purposes. For instance, guest speakers may be invited as part of a speaker series hosted by the school; they may be invited to speak at special occasions such as banquets or convocations; or they may be invited by a particular instructor as part of a class. Guest speakers allow students to learn from their years of real-world expertise in the field, and to receive answers to questions based on concrete experience.
