A one-year MBA lasts for 12 months, while the accelerated MBA can range in length from 12 - 18 months. These are full-time programs designed to meet the needs of many different kinds of students, such as those who:
already have a business or management background, with an undergraduate degree in business;
possess relevant business experience, usually specified as 3 - 5 years;
do not hold an undergraduate degree in business, but who meet the prerequisites for study in such areas as math, accounting, economics, finance, etc.
Some programs may limit entrance to students in one of the above situations.
Similar to the traditional two-year MBA, one-year or accelerated MBA programs may include opportunities for co-op work education experience (in some cases this may be mandatory) and international exchange.
One-year MBA programs are well suited for students who already have a master's or other graduate degree in a complementary subject, and for those who cannot afford to spend two years in business school.
