WHAT ARE THE PRE-REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING TO AN MBA PROGRAM?
Admission to MBA programs is selective and while there is no common industry-wide approach to MBA pre-requisites, a 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college is basic to most. Business schools will also look for some level of work experience (usually 3 to 5 years), along with demonstration of experience in an organizational setting (business, not-for-profit, public sector, etc.).
For other MBAs, particularly One-Year MBA programs, pre-requisites may include courses in accounting, microeconomics, statistics, finance, marketing and other foundation courses earned in an undergraduate business or related undergraduate degree. Whether an individual requires additional coursework is evaluated during the admission process by a review of the student's academic record and GMAT scores. The Admissions Committee may also waive pre-requisites based on interviewing the applicant and evaluating work experience or non-credit training, if it can be determined that there is equivalent content.
For students from non-English speaking countries, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required.
