Virginia Commonwealth University's (VCU) School of Business offers a range of graduate degrees in business, including classic and executive Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Accountancy (MAcct) degree, a Master of Taxation (MTax), five Master of Science in Business (MS) degrees, a classic and an executive Master of Science in Information Systems, a Master of Arts in Economics (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in business.
Classes typically meet once a week in the evening. A limited number of classes meet twice a week, either early in the morning, the late afternoon or on weekends. Students proceed at their own pace and a degree may be completed in as little as 12 months, but must take no longer than five years.
Highlights
The VCU MBA, accredited by AACSB, provides a balance of business theory and practical applications. Through a variety of instructional methods, including case studies, students learn to solve problems, make decisions, communicate effectively, work in teams and exercise leadership. In short, students acquire the skills and knowledge needed to lead complex business organizations, and they become well-prepared for the responsibilities and rigors of management.

A variety of leading corporations and agencies recruit graduate business students from VCU. These companies include, but are not limited to, Capital One, Altria Inc., Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Genworth Incorporated, Dominion Power, Defense Supply Center, and Ernst & Young.
The daVinci Center for Innovation and Product Design is a new joint venture between the VCU School of Business, School of Engineering and the School of the Arts, allowing graduate business students practical application in real product development and driving the School's reputation for providing quality alumni with innovative experience. The first product created in the Center claimed first place in a recent Boston-based competition.
Buildings & Facilities
Snead Hall, home of the VCU School of Business, opened for classes in January 2008.
Along with traditional classroom and faculty offices, the 145,000 square foot, four-story facility includes a capital markets center and trading room, career services center, central atrium with a student commons and cafe, auditorium, collaborative learning rooms, tiered case study classrooms and team-building breakout rooms, and a Center for Corporate Education.
